/Why tracking breaks

It breaks in
the handover.

Someone asks for “GA4 tracking” and the developer guesses the rest. Weeks later the numbers are off and nobody knows why. These are the mistakes we find most in audits. The generated code handles each one.

01

Orders counted twice

The thank-you page reloads and the purchase fires again. The code carries a guard that stops a reload from counting the order twice.

02

Revenue GA4 cannot read

Prices sent as text, or as 12,99 with a comma, or without a currency. The spec pairs value with currency and writes numbers as numbers.

03

Old products in new events

Without a reset, items from the last product page leak into the next event. Every ecommerce push clears the previous one first.

04

Missing fields

Required and recommended fields are marked per event, so GA4, Google Ads and Meta get what they need for reporting and bidding.

/What you get

Pick events,
get code.

Choose from 42 GA4 events or define your own. Required and recommended fields are marked, so nothing gets skipped by accident.

01

DataLayer code

Every event as a ready dataLayer.push, with when to fire it and the pitfalls for your developer in the comments.

02

Your platform

Shopify, Shopware 6, Lightspeed eCom, WooCommerce, Magento 2, PrestaShop or BigCommerce, with the platform's own template variables. Plain JavaScript for custom and AI-built sites.

03

Server-side events

The same events as Measurement Protocol and Data Manager API payloads, for orders and leads that complete outside the browser.

Consent and identity

Consent Mode v2 defaults, user_id, and user data for enhanced conversions, switched on when you need them.

05

Check what is live

Paste the dataLayer from your live site and see which events and fields are missing or wrong.

06

Start from what is there

Paste the dataLayer.push calls your site already has and build on them instead of starting over.

Share and save

Send the whole spec as one link. Save a spec per site or client, and compare two versions side by side.

/How it works

A brief in
a few minutes.

  1. 01

    Pick your events

Start from a preset for shops, lead generation or SaaS, or choose from 42 GA4 events. Add your own where GA4 has none.

  2. 02

    Choose your platform

The code is rewritten for your shop system, or for your own code if you have no shop system.

  3. 03

    Send it

Copy the code, or share one link that holds the whole spec. Your developer opens it and builds.

/Who it is for

Sites without
a plugin.

Shop apps cover the standard funnel. Everything else needs someone to write it down.

01

Custom and AI-built sites

Built with Lovable, v0, Bolt or by a developer from scratch? There is no tracking plugin. This is the instruction your site is missing.

02

Shops that need more

Your Shopify or WooCommerce app tracks the standard funnel. Add what it misses: leads, sign-ups, subscriptions, your own steps.

03

Developers

A brief you can build from without a meeting: what to push, when, and which fields are required.

04

Agencies and freelancers

Write the tracking brief once per client, send the link, and check the build against it when it goes live.

/Questions

Before you
sign up.

Is it really free?

Yes. No trial, no card, no paid tier. We use it for our own client work and give it away. If you want help with the build, we do that too.

Why do you want my email?

So we know who uses it, and so we can tell you when we add events or platforms. We email occasionally and you can unsubscribe any time.

Is my spec uploaded anywhere?

No. It is built and stored in your browser. A share link carries the spec inside the link itself, not on our server.

Do I need Google Tag Manager?

The code writes to the dataLayer, the standard way to feed Google Tag Manager. That is the setup we recommend and the one the spec is written for.

I already have a Shopify or WooCommerce tracking app.

Keep it. Those apps cover the standard shop funnel. Use the spec for what they leave out: leads, sign-ups, your own events, or a platform they do not support.

Who is behind it?

New North Digital, an analytics agency from the Netherlands. We set up and monitor tracking for webshops and lead-gen sites, and this tool writes the brief we used to write by hand.

Send your developer
a real brief.

Free, once you confirm your email. Nothing to install.

Want it built
as well?

We set up GTM, GA4, server-side tagging and your ad platforms on top of this spec, and keep an eye on it after launch.
